Jim Valvano's Speech

Jimmy V was a man who coached college basketball and then he got cancer. He gave a speech when he knew he was going to die soon. His speech was important because more people are getting effected by cancer then any other disease. But our country wasn't spending enough money on cancer research. In the speech Jimmy announced the Jimmy V Foundation witch is dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer. He also says "Don't give up don't ever give up".    Now his foundation has raised over 100 million dollars for cancer research.  One line I like in his speech says every day you should laugh, think, and cry.

Devils Tower National Monument

Devils Tower is 1,267 feet tall. Its in the northeast corner of Wyoming.

Some Indians made up storys of how devils tower was formed.    In one story there was two girls who left there own village. Several giant bears spotted them and started chasing them. The girls ran to the top of a flat rock and prayed and then the rock grew in to a mountain. While it was growing the bears were trying to climb it but they kept sliding down and scraping the rock with there  giant claws.

Devils Tower is important because its a sacred place to many Indian tribes. It also shows us how erosion changed earth surface.  Devils Tower was our first National Monument.

Old Fort Niagara

I visit Fort Niagara, witch its a national historical land mark, with my troop when we went to Niagara Falls. I learned that they made hills to trick people from breaking in the fort. they trick people when they think its not vary tall but its real tall.

This fort was important because stop the enemies from going threw The Great Lakes.thats important  because it brings you to Mississippi River then to the Gulf Of Mexico. having the fort allowed our trade ships and military ships to get through.

this is were i got my information.
