Devils Tower National Monument

Devils Tower is 1,267 feet tall. Its in the northeast corner of Wyoming.

Some Indians made up storys of how devils tower was formed.    In one story there was two girls who left there own village. Several giant bears spotted them and started chasing them. The girls ran to the top of a flat rock and prayed and then the rock grew in to a mountain. While it was growing the bears were trying to climb it but they kept sliding down and scraping the rock with there  giant claws.

Devils Tower is important because its a sacred place to many Indian tribes. It also shows us how erosion changed earth surface.  Devils Tower was our first National Monument.
